Four Trends to Incorporate This Wedding Season

We here at West Weddings Mag do our best to keep an eye on the latest fashion trends, and we know our readers do too! Without putting together a particular ensemble, today we wanted to share our favourite 2014 fashion trends that we are trying to incorporate in our ensembles this wedding season.

What's your favourite 2014 fashion trend, and how are you wearing it? We'd love to know! Tweet us at @WestWeddingsMag or let us know by leaving a comment!

4 trends to incorporate at your next wedding

4 trends to incorporate at your next wedding by westweddings featuring a full length maxi skirt

1. Full length maxi skirt in rose
This maintains the elegance and sophistication of a full-length gown, without becoming over-done or fussy. It's also lightweight for summer, and its pretty sheer overlay keeps it from looking too staid. We can't get over this blush rose colour either. What do you think?

2. Gladiator high-heeled sandals
This trend is literally taking the gladiator-sandal look to the next level! The outfit you'd pair this with is quite different than the look you'd be going for with the maxi skirt, but nevertheless could be entirely wedding appropriate with a bodycon floral or pastel dress!

3. Cream and gold clutch
We couldn't leave out one of our favourite wedding accessories - clutches. This clutch is understated for summer, but would also transition well into autumn and winter because of its warm cream colour. We love the sleek gold accent as well, which leads us into our next trend...

4. Triangle necklace
With little bunches of pearls on either side, this necklace goes from being simply on-trend to being perfect for a wedding. Simple, understated, and so elegant. Perfect for a dress with a low neckline, or a strapless dress.

Fashion Friday: Dotty for You

This Fashion Friday collection centres around this sleek, tailored, white peplum top from House of Fraser, which we think creates an ultra-sophisticated look. Besides incorporating white into our ensemble, we've also broken another wedding tradition with these spotted trousers, which are the 'ying' to the 'yang' of the staid and grown-up top by adding in a bit of playfulness - after all, what is a wedding if not fun? We've paired them with some pops of colour in the clutch (from Debenhams), as well as some 80s'-vibe lavender nail polish and light pink lipstick.

Fashion Friday: Vintage Velvet

Today's Fashion Friday features a pale pink velvet gown from John Lewis, paired with periwinkle pumps and nude & black accessories. This ensemble transitions easily from morning or afternoon ceremony & tea to evening - with dramatic touches in the black accessories.

The warmth of the velvet is appropriate for these chillier spring months, but also gives off that light ready-for-summer feel that we're all beginning to sense in the air.

Fashion Friday: Collar Me Beautiful

Today for Fashion Friday we're featuring one of our favourite trends of late: collars. A collared dress is timeless and classic, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. The dresses below are beautiful examples of the collared look on their own, but they can also be fancied up a little bit more with any one of the collar necklaces shown below.

We took particular inspiration from the yellow Christopher Kane dress on the left. Though a dress above £600 might be outside of most of our budgets, a very similar look can be achieved by pairing a bit of extra collar bling with a simple coloured gown.

The collar necklaces can also turn a simple dress (sans collar) into something more wedding-worthy, by just adding that little bit extra.

Fashion Friday: Queen of Hearts

Today we thought we'd pay tribute to Valentine's day with a 'Queen of Hearts' inspired wedding look. This Linea Cap Sleeve dress from House of Fraser combines a a light femininity with the drama of the red - which can be accentuated with lipstick and accessorised with bold gold and black.

Fashion Friday: Perfectly Purple

One of the highlights of today's Fashion Friday can be summed up in one word: pricetags. All of the six dresses we're featuring today are under £140 (which, for bridesmaids dresses these days is a steal!), and three of them are under £70!

Following on the colour theme we started last week, today we picked out six gorgeous gowns in purple. The idea behind this pinboard is to show brides and bridesmaids alike the potential when bridesmaids are asked to choose their own dresses (within a colour scheme). A variety of styles and tastes and shades of purple can all tie together to look united, while simultaneously expressing the individuality of each member of the bridal party.

We also picked out a selection of accessories to show the versatility of the colour purple - you can complement it with silvers, blacks and blues, or give some contrast with yellows, golds and oranges.

If you're interested in any of the dresses or accessories shown below, check click the links down below to visit their listing on the retailers' websites.
