3 reasons to visit the Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair

Back in January we announced the details of the Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair taking place on the 16^th of March (click here for all the details in our blog post). If you haven’t already booked to come, here are just a few more reasons to put it in your diary.

1. Each exhibitor is hand-selected

Ali Cook and Katie Daniels, the founders of Bristol Vintage, hand-picked (by invitation only!) each of the 40 exhibitors that will be showing their wares and offering their expertise at the Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair. They spent a lot of time researching all their vendors in order to  create a unique experience that they could be completely confident would benefit every attendee.

“I want exhibitors who really care about their work and their clients – people who I would always be happy to recommend,” says Ali. 

2. A chance to meet and support small, local businesses

In addition to being hand-picked, the vendors at Bristol Vintage are largely local, small businesses. This means that you’ll be given a terrific opportunity to support businesses in your area and help the Bristol-area wedding industry thrive for the benefit of future brides and grooms! You can also have confidence in a personal connection with each exhibitor you meet. They aren’t simply representatives from large national companies – they’re people that work down the road from you week-on-week.

3. A blog and Pinterest page to get you inspired before and after the event

Not only will the event itself be a great chance to glean inspiration and start conceptually putting together your wedding day, but Bristol Vintage is also putting out helpful resources right now to help you get started! Vintage Wedding Fair in March!

Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair

Date: Sunday, 16^th of March

Time: 10.30am-4pm

Venue: Clifton Pavilion, Bristol Zoo Gardens

Entry fee: £1 (Proceeds donated to Alzheimer’s Society)

Come along on the 16^th of March to peruse more than 40 vendors’ vintage wares – from décor to crockery to dresses, jewellery and cakes. This event will appeal to the bride who is planning a vintage-themed wedding, but will also have lots in store for any vintage enthusiast! On the day you’ll be able to browse authentic vintage items, as well as vintage-inspired pieces.

Exhibitors include Bridezillas, The Little Wedding Helper, Days of Grace Vintage, Bake My Cake, Heavenly Vintage and more. You’ll be sure to find absolutely everything you need for a vintage wedding – even down to the lingerie.

The event is being hosted by Bristol’s own ‘Bristol Vintage’ a company whose founders have, between them, more than 10 years of experience organising special events, and whose passion for vintage everything led them to start their own vintage crockery-hire company. Bristol Vintage wedding fair - back and bigger than ever!

It's that time of year again - the Bristol Vintage wedding fair is back!

On Sunday 10th March, the Clifton Pavilion at Bristol Zoo will again be hosting this lovely event, organised by Bristol Vintage, showcasing the best vintage and vintage inspired suppliers in the South West.

 
Whether you want a fully vintage wedding or are just looking for a particular dress or shoes, you'll find all the inspiration you need at the fair. Confirmed suppliers include Esmerelda's Emporium of Vanity, the Little Wedding Helper, Heavenly Vintage, Ivory Flowers, A Suit That Fits, Cox and Baloney, Pretty Amazing Cakes and Tricia Designs.

The fair is completely free and will be running from 10am-4pm. See you there!

Intimate baby shower at Goldbrick House

Not to scare any brides out there but sometimes, just sometimes, you have a baby.  And so I didn't think it would be too out of place to share the baby shower I threw for my future-sister-in-law the other week at the gorgeous Goldbrick House.

I knew that Elly loves vintage crockery so was keen to get Ali Cook from Bristol Vintage on board as soon as possible. They have a range of options for brides wanting to include beautiful crockery for their special day, without having to find and store it yourself. My person favourite is the high tea package which has everything you need for a summery celebration; it even includes scones and cupcakes.

 

The other thing I knew needed including were sweets.  And lots of them! Elly has a major sweet tooth and loved the idea of having a candy buffet.  As an extra special treat I asked Steph of How2IDo to put together some tasty treats for the guests.  Steph recently started putting her candy buffets and will match the ribbons, the dishes and the colour of the sweets to the theme of your big day.  Because our theme was bright colours (not so much of a theme, I know) she made sure her corner of the table was just as colourful. But here's another thing; Elly and most of her family are vegetarian so Steph went above and beyond to make sure as many of the sweets were vegetarian friendly.  All but two were and they were clearly marked so we had absolutely no problems. Perfection.

We put together goody bags for the guests.  I ordered bags that matched the colour theme, and paper clipped a thank you note to the front.  The bags included a copy of a Beatrix Potter book, a ginger biscuit made by Elly and a copy her baby scan.

Because I was so busy running around on the day I completely forgot to take better pictures of The Library, the room we used at Goldbrick House. Unlike a lot of venues you do not pay to hire the room and pay for the bar on top, there is simply a deposit paid before the event and a minimum bar spend which varies depending on the time of day. We arranged to have hot and cold drinks so a coffee and tea table was set up in one corner, a small bar in the other, larger tables for the food and a small table for gifts.  The space is pretty, bright and tucked away from the rest of the venue so you really feel like the space is yours.

The pictures aren't brilliant but I just had to share them.  The shower was a triumph and it was all thanks to local  Bristol businesses coming together and making it happen.
