Fashion Friday: Ready to bloom

Gone are the days where tradition dictates that bridesmaids all wear the exact same dresses - cringing as they wait to find out what they may be doomed to wear. These days brides are catching on to the idea that bridesmaids dresses can express each bridesmaid's personality as much as the wedding gown reflects the bride's personality.

If you plan to have your bridesmaids all choose their own dresses for your wedding, here is a bit of inspiration. The colour theme we chose is green/blue, and as you can see, the dresses don't clash even though they range from aqua blue to an almost-emerald green. Shoes can range from flats to heels and come in all different colours. The general colour scheme ties everything together, while leaving a lot of scope for creativity!

Most of these dresses are easily available at retailers such as New Look, House of Fraser, Warehouse and Harvey Nichols, and four of the six looks come in under £60! To see each dress or shoe listed on their retailers' websites, use the links below.

Fashion Friday: A Taste of New York

Here at West Weddings Towers we love fashion - and not just bridal fashion, but the styles that adorn the fashionable wedding guest (among which we like to fancy ourselves!). As an outlet for our passion for all things style (and let's face it, who doesn't enjoy an opportunity to dress up?), we've decided to make 'Fashion Friday' a weekly blog feature to give you some inspiration for the next wedding you attend. (You may even find some inspiration for everyday attire, as well!)

Why Fashion Friday? Beyond being a shameless opportunity to ogle some fashion, there is a practical side to Fashion Friday, which is to save you money! Yes, you read that right. In our most recent magazine issue, we revealed the enormous price tag attached to being a wedding guest, and one of the top budget-breakers was wardrobe.

'How will looking at clothes I don't own help me save money?' you might ask. Good question. While you may find yourself purchasing one of the items shown on the blog, we ultimately hope that that these style collages will give you an inspiring glimpse into the versatility of your own wardrobe! Sometimes it takes seeing things on someone else to help you see the potential lying behind your own closet doors.

Are you on board yet? All introductions aside, let's dive into our first Fashion Friday with a...

WARNING: The following post is for the fashionably bold wedding-goer only! For the florals-only-minded: you may want to look away! Consider yourself duly alerted.

YES. It is now, more than a decade into the 21st century, acceptable to wear black to a wedding! (Glamour backs us up on this, if you need more convincing!)

We took inspiration for the look below from one of our favourite fashion bloggers (from New York, appropriately), Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific. While the black may read a bit flat on its own, it has huge potential for being dressed up with shiny jewellery - reminiscent of Christmas tree baubles and twinkle lights appropriate to the oncoming holiday season.

(And if you're not quite bold enough to dare the black - take inspiration from the shapes and textures ... and check back next week for fashion that plays more by the rules!)
