Miscellaneous Monday: Get set for a Christmas wedding

As we say 'good bye' to autumn and the countdown to Christmas truly begins, many brides may be tempted to dream of having a winter wonderland wedding. The magic of the season with Christmas trees, sparkly ornaments and the smell of mince pies creates the perfect opportunity for couples to say 'I do' in front of a cosy fireplace. See our 'Real weddings' section in our latest issue for ideas!

In the wedding world, it is the popular Love Actually Christmas Special Fayre at Bristol Zoo, that kickstarts the season of romance on Sunday, 6th December at 11am-3pm. As always, Emma and David - the organisers of the event - will welcome couples and guests with complementary mulled wine and mince pies.
From snowflake decorations and wintry motifs to delicious fruitcakes and crystal bridal  accessories, Love Actually has all the suppliers you could wish for under one roof. Even Santa might stop by for a few photos. You can watch a short video from last year's event here to get a taste for what to look forward to.
Entrance to all Love Actually wedding fairs is free. In addition to this seasonal wedding fair, the organisers have also planned several events for 2016 at a range of venues across the region - find out more on our Wedding Fair Calendar page.

Love Actually Weddings will be hosting their Christmas Special Wedding Fayre this year on 7th December 2014, 11am - 3pm at the Clifton Pavilion, Bristol Zoo. As always with Love Actually, admission is FREE. So why not pop along to join in with the festivities and speak to some of the best wedding suppliers across our region? You’ll be welcomed with mulled wine and mince pies to add to the occasion.

Having hosted well over 100 events, you are sure to receive a very warm welcome from Love Actually. The event organisers, David and Emma, have been meeting and greeting engaged couples since 2008. "It's a wonderful industry to be involved in. Every week, I get to meet excited brides and grooms eager to plan the day of their lives, it's so lovely and makes our job all the more worthwhile," comments Emma.

Each venue has a different selection of exhibitors giving you plenty of options for finding the right suppliers for your special day. Love Actually Weddings can help you choose every aspect – from wedding cake and chocolate fountain to balloons and bridalwear- and much much more.

After the festive season, David and Emma will be hosting events across the South West, starting at The Grand Thistle in Bristol on 4th January. They will then head down to The Castle Hotel in Taunton (11th January) and go further south again, hosting The Tithe Barn Wedding Fayre in Dunster (25th January) – very busy times for the team!

Perfect planning

Are you in the final stages of your wedding plans, stumbling over the intricacies of cufflinks and the all-important bouquet? Or are you simply in need of some inspiration? You have no need to panic, as on Sunday 8th July there are two wedding fairs happening in Bristol to help you plan these all-important details.

Love Actually Weddings will be holding another of its incredibly popular wedding shows at Colston Hall, a beautiful venue where modern meets heritage. The show will be held from 11.30am to 4pm meaning that you and your partner can make a day of it.

“It will be full of entertainment,” says David from Love Actually. “We are looking forward to listening to the three fantastic bands we have performing throughout the day, with Mama Stones being our main act around lunchtime”. With lots of entertainment, the opportunity to talk to a range of top wedding professionals and also suppliers from the region, you will have all the support you need.

As well as all of this, you can make the most of your surroundings. Colston Hall is a newcomer to Bristol's licensed venue for weddings and boasts great facilities. A favourite is the terrace bar with panoramic views over the city - a sensational spot to hold your ceremony.  As with all Love Actually Wedding fayres, admission is free of charge and you will be greeted with a complimentary glass of bucks fizz and an information gift bag.

Sunday 8th July is also the date for Bristol's first ever gay wedding fair, hosted by Pink Partnerships at the Council House in Bristol.

The event is taking place between 10.30am and 4pm, and will be a one stop shop for everything from outfits, rings, catering and accessories. “We guarantee that everyone you meet on the day will be gay-friendly,” said Lisa Cullender from Pink Partnerships. “This is about making sure gay couples are exposed to the very best wedding suppliers in the Bristol area.”

Entry on the day is £2, although you can still buy discounted tickets in advance, and admission includes a goody bag and a glass of bubbly on arrival.
